Dancing Histor(y)ies Workshops in Rome

In March, dancers Arunas Mozuraitis and Elias Khanamidi visited Rome and explored historical monuments and performance spaces, while also led workshops with local communities.

Workshop 1

Dancers met with I Borghi team to review the festival schedule and explore possibilities. Following this, they held their first movement workshop with young students from the Urban Dance Academy (UDA). Together they explored their unique movement styles and exchanged experiences for potential co-creation projects.

They visited the Castel Sant’Angelo and explored the room for the performance that will take place in May. They also visited, Auditorium Conciliazione, one of Rome’s most prominent performance venues.

The workshop ended with meetings with the Artistic Director of UDA and a musician from the Rome Orchestra. They exchanged ideas about the performance, discussing how to actively involve local communities and exploring creative possibilities.

Workshop 2

The second workshop started with movement and reading and analyzing selected poems with young students from MSPD and Urban Dance Academy (UDA). The students were invited to create short pieces, combining selected lines from the poems with movement and voice. The dancers reflected as: “Their creativity was remarkable and the room was filled with unique interpretations”.

The workshop ended with meetings, reviews and reflections on the experience together with the I Borghi team.
