ilDance at IETM Sofia 2024

This year’s annual plenary meeting of IETM - International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts will take place in Sofia, Bulgaria 12-15 June 2024.

Four people from ilDance’s team will be attending so if you will also be in Sofia during this time, please reach out and let’s meet!

Attending the meeting will be Israel Aloni - Artistic Director, Lee Brummer - Associate Director, Hanna Magdalena Gödl - producer and international project manager of Dancing Histor(y)ies, and Giordana Patumi - international project manager of International Contemporary Dance Collective (iCoDaCo) 2024-2027.

Here is information about some of the things we are currently working on:

- Boys Just Want To Have Fun - A durational dance-performance art piece for gallery/museum spaces which deconstructs the image of ‘man’ in Western society, addressing the problematics of limiting men’s sensuality and affection only to contexts of competition (sports) and combat (war).

- Early stages of developing reciprocal artistic exchange or reiterations of Boys Just Want To Have Fun with artists, communities and organisations in Latin America.

- iCoDaCo - Collective knowledge production and updating contemporary dance practices to the social, political, economic and environmental realities of the 21st century.

- Developing an open access digital platform for knowledge exchange from the perspective of contemporary dance practices as a means to democratise and decentralise artistic practise development(iCoDaCo).

- Dancing Histor(y)ies - Site specific contemporary dance work in archeological and heritage sites.

- Conflicted - A development of of a new contemporary dance/physical theatre work which creates a platform to share stories of Palestinian and Israeli individuals and their lived experiences of the conflict in the Middle East.

You can reach out to us to learn more about the above mentioned projects, to develop collaborations, to tell us about your experience with similar projects or just engage in conversation with no clear agenda.
