ilDance is Looking for Male Identifying Experienced Dancers for its Ongoing Project: Boys Just Want to Have Fun
The Artistic Director of ilDance, Israel Aloni, is looking for two professional dancers - self-identifying as male - including trans masculine, male presenting, non-binary and/or cis male, to join the cast in their ongoing production, Boys Just Want to Have Fun.
The casting workshop (audition) will take place on 22-23 March 2025, for a duration of two full days in Stockholm, Sweden.
About Boys Just Want to Have Fun
Since 2014, Aloni’s work has been addressing gender and sexuality in both direct and indirect ways, in numerous projects which work through these themes from non-binary and female perspectives.
In Boys Just Want to Have Fun, they address homoeroticism and toxic masculinity, how these influence the perception of male figures in modern society and embody post-humanist-feminist agenda through deconstruction and redefinition of the male.
Boys Just Want to Have Fun is a durational piece of 6 to 8 hours with a set score which performs in gallery and/or museum spaces.
The project premiered in 2024 in Belgrade, Serbia and was selected into Perform Europe for international touring in 2025. More information about the project can be found here.

We seek artists who effortlessly blur the lines between art and reality and embrace vulnerability and sincerity in their performances. The candidates have extensive experience in physical expression, particularly as dancers, viewing the body as both material and concept for storytelling. The dancers need to be willing to draw from personal experiences in a respectful, consensual manner during the creative process, comfortable with improvisation, and eager to work collaboratively. Additionally, interested in thinking and reflecting on political issues, integrating their own societal experiences into their work.
English proficiency is necessary for communication, though it does not have to be the applicant’s native language.
The selected dancers will join the cast for the 2025 engagements and potentially for further future performances.
There will be no “rehearsal period” as the piece is based on a practice and a score which will be further developed in the different residencies that are mentioned below.
