Dancing Histor(y)ies partner meeting in Cagliari
From September 25th to 27th, 2024, Israel Aloni and Hanna Magdalena Gödl,, travelled to Cagliari, Sardinia, along with other partners for the Dancing Histor(y)ies partner meeting, hosted by Associazione Enti Locali per lo Spettacolo at the Sa Manifattura Cultural Centre in Italy. The gathering included partners from across Europe and aimed to debrief on the 2024 activities while sharing suggestions for improvement for the upcoming 2025 festivals and events. One of the significant updates discussed was the expansion of the project to two new locations: the Baths of Diocletian in Rome and the archaeological site of Nora in Sardinia.
The meeting focused on refining the project strategies and adjusting the execution plans for the next phase, particularly with insights gained from the first year of activities. Peer-to-peer sessions encouraged partners to explore deeper community engagement strategies and better understand the local contexts. The discussions also touched on logistical and creative improvements for 2025, including potential collaborations with local artistic groups.
An interesting part of the meeting was the visit to the archaeological site of Nora, which will host the Dancing Histor(y)ies festival in 2025. This festival will be held alongside the well-established Nora Jazz Festival, which has been bringing international and national musicians to Sardinia for over 25 years. This site visit gave participants a firsthand view of one of the new locations, offering an inspiring backdrop for planning future performances and collaborations.
